Yeti, Bigfoot, Wine Country Blimp

“Is that a dagger I see before me, it’s handle toward my hand? Come, let me clutch, thee. I have thee not, and yet I see thee still…”

Yeah, that’s Macbeth, wondering if he is dreaming about a dagger – is it real, or imagined, an image from his “heat oppressed brain” ?

I was feeling a bit Macbethish* this morning as I drove to work and thought I spied, coming out of the mists over the Charles M. Shulz Sonoma County Airport, the WINE COUNTRY BLIMP.

Excited, I called into work and told the guy who answered that I think I had the blimps in my sights, and was going in to investigate. As I sped (43 in a 40 zone) to the airport, I lost track of the airborne monster and then… gone.

Cue the X-Files Music.

I couldn’t see it at all. And if you’ve seen our airport, it’s hard to lose anything out there. Our airport is, uh, intimate in size. Long-term parking is closer to the airplane than the bathrooms are to the gate at San Francisco Airport. No joke.

So the fact that the blimp disappeared into thin air leads me to but one conclusion: the blimp is a myth, a projection of what I want. It may not even exist… but in my mind.

Then a co-worker I confessed this whole thing to admitted that she, too, thought she spied the blimp from her window a few days ago.

Yeah- one person seeing things and they are crazy. Two people seeing things and they’re a conspiracy. And three people? That’s a movement.

So, if you see the Wine Country blimp, in or around Sonoma County, then please let us know. Photographic proof, especially if it is grainy, poorly lit and taken from a cell phone, is most welcome.

The Wine Country Blimp.

Believe…

* As in seeing things, not as in goaded to do in the King of Scotland by my wife as narrated by three strange sisters. That usually happens on Fridays.
