Wine-Infused Chocolates – Santa Doesn't Stand a Chance

Larry from the Sonoma County Winegrape Commission (Twitter name: @Levino) has a cool idea: get people to understand that wine comes from grapes by putting the taste of the grapes into chocolates.

The truffles are made from winegrapes from some of the 13 AVAs in Sonoma County, including:

  • Russian River Pinot Noir truffle, filled with rich dark chocolate and infused with the essence of the world famous Pinor Noir grapes from the Russian River Valley.
  • Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon truffle, a dark chocolate flavor blended with the complex taste of Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon grapes.
  • Knighs Valley Merlot truffle, featuring a ganache accented by the bouquet of ripe berries and smooth textured Alexander Valley merlot grapes.
  • Chalk Hill Chardonnay truffles, a dark, creamy chocolate accented by the apple and citrus notes of Chalk Hill chardonnay grapes.

Like the Winegrape Commission’s cool mini-grapevine bonzai, a portion of the sales proceeds from this go to the Sonoma County Vineyard Worker Education Program.

Wine + chocolate!

Wine + chocolate!

Where to buy?

Simple- either the nearest Cost Plus World Market, some Costco stores, or from the website of the Winegrape Commission: www.sonomawinegrape.org/winechocolate
