Spoonbar’s Louis Maldonado to Compete on Top Chef
Late last week the Bravo tv network announced the names of chefs set to compete in Top Chef: New Orleans, which debuts on October 2. One of the chefs named is Louis Maldonado, 32, of Healdsburg’s Spoonbar.
Chef Maldonado began his culinary career at San Francisco’s One Market; he later became sous chef at Cortez, where he was quickly promoted to co-executive chef in 2006 and earned a Michelin star for his work. Maldonado has also worked at top area restaurants that include French Laundry and Café Majestic, and for 3 years served as chef de cuisine of Aziza.
In 2012 Maldonado moved to Healdsburg to become the executive chef of Spoonbar at h2hotel, where he was able to create a menu of clean and simple dishes that honor U. S. culinary traditions. He also also oversees the menu of Pizzando, the restaurant at h2hotel’s sister property, hotel Healdsburg. www.spoonbar.com.
