Hardy Wallace, he of the Very Goode Job wine blogger fame, posted a fun little video about the recent Heirloom Tomato Festival (unofficial motto: the tomatoes your great-grandfather used to not eat as a kid) put on by Kendall-Jackson. Look for a cameo by Heather Irwin of the local Bite Club blog. (Heather- get an agent! You’re everywhere and you’re money!)
The festival is pretty cool, with an incredible varieties of tomatoes as well as wine and, of course, cooking demonstrations.
We have some heirloom varieties in our backyard, picked up from the big plant sale K-J does in the spring. I can attest, as my son was pelting my daughter with some lovely Peace Vine Cherry tomatoes, that heirloom varieties can fly through the air with just as much if not more accuracy than their regular counterparts.
The video is below – nice work Hardy. Though I have to ask about the music – is this the Boogie Nights soundtrack?
