I love sushi. I eat out at a sushi restaurant at least twice a month. Even in uncertain economic times, I won’t give up my personal quest for the perfect maki-sushi. Perfect according to me of course. Each restaurant I have dined in, offered a wide selection of rolls ranging from Gringo Rolls at Tex Wasabi’s that include ingredients like French Fries, beef brisket or mandarin oranges to more refined sashimi establishments like Hana in Rohnert Park.

Ginger...what every stuffed stomach needs
After all the chop sticks are laid to rest, Ume Bistro in Windsor stands out as my all-time favorite. The atmosphere leaves something to be desired, but I don’t go to Ume for the swanky decor, I go for the sushi. Their fish is always fresh and the chefs are always creating new rolls. My all-time favorites are the Carburetor with shrimp tempura, real crab, avocado and mango, Geisha roll with spicy salmon topped with maguro and hamachi and The Lady in Red rolled with pieces of salmon. The Rain Forest with spicy salmon and wakame salad on top always leaves me satisfied.
Have a better wine country sushi joint? Better then Ume? Let me know in the comments section.

Frank’s Sushi and Bait Shop. Yum.
Hanna in Rohnert Park is a surprising find.. it is in a strip mall but the sushi is quite remarkable. Been there twice, and need to get back there.
