The year 2012 is significant for Sonoma since it is the bicentennial of the Russian establishment of Fort Ross.

Yet there are accomplishments to celebrate across our proud County every month. How you celebrate is up to you, but might we suggest popping a bottle of sparkling Sonoma wine?

February marks:

  • Infineon Raceway’s 25th Year of NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing in the Sonoma Valley, infineonraceway.com
  •  The Russian River Rotary Club’s 25th Anniversary Crab Feed, russianriverrotary.org
  • Petaluma Educational Foundation’s 30th Year as a non-profit that supports every school in Petaluma, pefinfo.com
  • The 120th Annual Cloverdale Citrus Fair, running February 17 through February 20. Check out the 20 foot tall citrus exhibit, farm animals, carnival rides, food demos, wine competitions and tastings, fine arts & crafts, and cabaret dinner shows, cloverdalecitrusfair.org
  • Tsars’ Cabinet Exhibit at the Sonoma County Museum, celebrating 200 Years of Decorative Arts Under the Romanovs, as original immigrants to Fort Ross. The Sonoma County Museum is the only west-coast venue for this exhibit in 2012 and the only venue in Northern California. Porcelain, glass, enamel and other alluring materials make the Tsar’s Cabinet exhibit dazzle, showcasing the evolution of style from the European classicism of the court of Catherine the Great, to the rich oriental motifs of Russian favored by late 19th century tsars. Runs Feb. 25 through May 27, sonomacountymuseum.org
