Madrona Manor impresses in Healdsburg

Michael Bauer, the restaurant critic from the main newspaper in that medium-sized town on the end of the Peninsula, has a nifty review of Madrona Manor.

Madrona Manor, in Healdsburg, is THE spot for Healdsburg dining – classy but unpretentious, classic but cutting-edge.

It’s beautiful in a retro sort of way; each room has a fireplace, and the tables, scattered around various dining parlors, have linens that reach the floor.

It’s an unlikely setting for a chef who makes powder out of olive oil for one of his complimentary appetizers, whips up foam of Parmesan cheese for soup, cooks an egg sous vide to float in his silken onion veloute, and pours liquid nitrogen into custard to make ice cream tableside. More…
