Lynmar Estate Winery, located on Frei Road between Santa Rosa and Sebastopol in the Russian River Valley, is all set to launch a new picnic wine pairing program designed to offer seasonal menus with sustainable food and eco-friendly packaging.
The concept is simple: Garden fresh food, sourced from the Lynmar Estate, is delectably paired by winery chef Sandra Simile with the estate’s handcrafted wines and packaged picnic style to enjoy on the lovely patio overlooking the Quail Hill Vineyard.
The picnic commences with Lynmar’s Russian River Valley Chardonnay, coupled with a light snack of white truffle popcorn. Straight from the winery’s gardens comes a fresh salad drizzled in Lynmar’s citrus balsamic dressing. A glass of Lynmar’s Russian River Valley Pinot Noir paired with a sandwich of either grilled garden vegetables or the roasted meat or fowl-of-the-day rounds out a truly unique culinary experience.
For dessert: home-baked cookies (the lavender shortbread treats are made with lavender from the on-site gardens).
If the food itself doesn’t demonstrate Lynmar’s commitment to sustainability, the winery also provides 100 percent compostable and biodegradable packaging for the Picnic Pairing to preserve the delicate ecosystem in the Russian River Valley. All visitors receive their pairing in a re-usable wooden picnic basket.
The program is available daily between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. beginning May 14. The price: $35 per person (or $30 for Lynmar Estate Wine Club members). Reservations are highly recommended, so call 707.829.3374. And go hungry.
