Little Orphan Annie comes to Wine Country

The 6th Street Playhouse is bringing the Broadway classic “Annie” to Wine Country this summer. The comic strip has just ended after an 86 year run, but the beloved story and music live on. From August 13 through September 12, the earnest red-haired orphan will be delighting in Santa Rosa.

See all of your favorite characters and get sentimental over the songs in this semi-professional cast version. Watch as Annie determinedly searches for her parents, despite the meddling of conniving Miss Hannigan, and manages to find a new family with Oliver Warbucks and his personal secretary, Grace Farrell.

The 1930′s comic strip will be brought to life with the set design in the GK Hardt Theatre. Avonlea Martin and Natalie Rubin will alternate as Annie, alongside Norman A. Hall as Daddy Warbucks, Brenda Reed as Miss Hannigan, and the Summer Theater Workshop Kids Ensemble as Annie’s fellow orphans.

The 6th Street Playhouse is located in the beautiful, historic Railroad Square area, where you can find restaurants and bars and a warm ambiance.  If you’re in town on Saturday, August 21, you could take in Taste of Railroad Square as well from noon to 4 p.m., featuring an afternoon of sampling delicacies, wine, shopping, and music – all benefitting 6th Street Playhouse.

For all of comic strip Annie’s travels, not to mention dangerous adventures, she’s lucky to finally wind up in Sonoma County and we’re lucky to have her.
