For years, arts and crafts fans have been flocking to Creative Wick, a fun and whimsical make-your-own-candle studio at 559 David Clayton Lane in Windsor.
That era, however, is almost over, with the store set to close on July 31.
While the on-site pickings probably will be slim for the last few days, Owner Kathy Flynn promises she’ll offer candle-making classes up until the very last moment (provided, of course, that requisite supplies last).
These classes are certainly a kid-friendly activity. Kids can select from a variety of shapes, colors and scents, and they sit around a table as Flynn gives instructions on how to combine wax and wick into something special. Kids pour wax, mold candles and watch as their creations come to life.
All participants also get to take the candles they make home with them. Each class lasts about 30 minutes, and classes are available just about every day. The price? $12 per person.
For those who’d rather not perform manual labor, Creative Wick also sells a bunch of homemade candles made by Flynn and others. Again, the store is closing next weekend so be sure to swing by before it’s too late.
