HGTV Dream Home- Housewarming Gifts

What to give the lucky winner of the HGTV Dream Home in Sonoma? If Bobby Flay can be persuaded to leave, and if you can get the superfan out of the expansive closets, then once you win, you’re going to want to fill the house with wine country awesomeness.

Right now the HGTV website has a vote for what the lucky winners should get.

On the short list are items like a Cuisinart 5.5 qt Mixer, a Kohl’s Food Network Toaster, and a King Arthur Flour Muffin Top Pan.

Bleah.

If you are going to win the HGTV Dream Home in Sonoma, then you need to receive gifts that befit such an awesome extravagance. You need to go local and go big. Here’s our list of the Dream Home Dream Houswarming Gifts.

Vote for any and all in the comments:

  • Lifetime supply of wine. You heard it – lifetime. A wine club costs about $300 a year, give or take. Assuming you are in your 40s when you win (which should fit the demo of the average HGTV Dream Home Superfan) you have about 40 more years of wine to consume. That’s a $12,000 prize, or possibly $40,000 assuming steady 3% annual inflation. I think.
  • Raymond the Cheesemonger as your personal cheesemonger. Yeah- the guy who runs the shop in Glen Ellen and knows everything about cheese will hook you up with all the crottin, gouda, and gouda you can handle.
  • Chef Andrew Cain from Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn and Spa’s Sante Restaurant  as your personal chef. The guy is an awesome chef, and his winemaker dinner’s pair local wines with local produce.
  • A spa attendant who visits you every Monday before work and every Friday after work.
  • Private sommelier-led tours of some of the 258 wineries in Sonoma County.
  • A pantry full of Kozlowski’s Farms jams, Moms Apple Pies and Taylor Maid local roast coffee.
  • A membership to Mayacama, where you can rub elbows with vintners and plutocrats on the golf course and in the member wine cellar.
  • A place to land your own hot air balloon.
  • Help with your tax bill. Proposition 13 or no, it’s gonna be a dinger…

8 Comments for HGTV Dream Home- Housewarming Gifts

  1. I vote for Raymond the cheesemonger and the lifetime supply of wine so all my friends can come over and party. I signed up for the dream home – it could happen!

  2. Lifetime supply of wine. I think I could handle $40,000 worth of drinking. Channel “Animal House”.

  3. A lifetime supply of wine is great, but it could be better. How about a wine cooler stocked with 4 bottles each of the leading grape varieties from each of Sonoma County’s 13 American Viticulture Areas. That would be 104 bottles of appellation-designate wines. And add 2 boxes of Growers’ Choice Chocolates & Wine Collection from the Sonoma County Winegrape Commission.

  4. I’m a spa girl. Definitely the spa attendant. What a way to start and end the week. If he or she can just live in the house, that would be better.

  5. How about a membership to Sonoma Golf Club, a little shorter “drive”, get it “drive” golf… I’ll just sit over here and have another glass of wine.

  6. Winesnobbin says:

I’d like a personal trainer to come over and work me out in the custom built gym, and THEN the spa attendant!

  7. How about the lifetime supply of wine and the cheesemonger. Don’t they go together? …and I was thinking something simple, like one of the rustic, old-wood wine bottle holders. Small minds. Go BIG!

  8. The English Guy says:

I definitely vote for Chef Andrew, as you mentioned ‘The guy is an awesome chef’ his cooking has certainly impressed every visitor, guest, friend and family member who I have treated to either Brunch or Dinner in Sante at the Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn & Spa
