Sonoma County never lacks great Mexican food from one of the Taqueria’s or Taco Trucks dotted throughout the county. If you are looking for great ambiance and great Mexican breakfast items, look no further then Flavor Bistro. Their eclectic brunch menu includes traditional breakfast scrambles with ham, bacon, veggies and chicken sausages along with options including smoked salmon and creme fraiche. Don’t forget the pancakes made with blueberries, strawberries or walnuts and bananas.
However, I never go for any of the traditional offerings. Instead, I visit Flavor for a little extra kick in one of their Mexican specialties.
My favorites in numerical order:
1 – Crab Tostada – a crab cake filled with almost all crab over scrambled eggs, salsa verde, queso fresca, Mexican crema, shredded lettuce, black beans, tomato slices and a tostada.
2 – Chilaquiles – this traditional dish is enormous. It can also be quite spicy so specify if you need a mild version. The tortilla strips are always a little crunchy which is a perfect contrast to the eggs.
3 – Mexican Rancho Eggs – basically this dish is Huevos Rancheros. The tortillas are layered with salsa and black beans. Eggs are cooked the way your prefer. The whole dish is covered in salsa and queso fresca.
Their individual french press coffees are always the perfect amount for a breakfast (about 2 and half cups). On cool mornings ask to be seated next to the fireplace for that extra bit of ambiance.
Brunch is served Saturday and Sunday from 8:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.
