Grape to Glass August 14-16, 2009
How about a little wine country immersion in the midst of a long, hot summer? The Russian River Valley Winegrowers offer you the chance with ‘Grape to Glass,’ a weekend of wine-centric events so you can ‘Live Like a Local’ in Sonoma County. From Friday, August 14 through Sunday, August 16, there will be a pursuit for all palates.
Begin the weekend early with the Friday morning Tour de Vine Bike Ride, taking in sights, stories and meeting local winegrowers along the way. Move on to tasting your way through the Russian River Valley with the Winery Poker Run, picking up lucky cards at each winery stop for a chance at a winning hand. Round out the day with a sensory experience at Sip ‘n’ Cinema at MacMurray Ranch, exploring the crossover of a Hollywood legend and fine wine production.
Continue experiencing all that the Russian River Valley has to offer on Saturday with a bright and early balloon ride and a leisurely kayak trip along the namesake river itself. While the early wake up and exertion is of course cushioned by wine country dining and sipping, you’ll love finishing off day two with the Hot in the Fog Winegrower BBQ, Tasting Fest and Auction. Mix with the locals that make it all happen, from winegrowers to innkeepers, and chat about the wines one-on-one with the winemakers.
The weekend culminates with Wings, Wine and Wind-down, where you can take in wine country’s annual air show from the comfort of the Sky Lounge Steakhouse & Raw Bar at Sonoma County Airport being treated to lunch and, of course, more wine.
