You. Google. In the Woods. At last.

Google wants to follow you around for a while. You know, find out what you like to do, where you like to go, and then photograph the whole thing and put it on the internet.

Their new project, cleverly called “US Street View Special Collections Poll” asks you, the great unwashed, to vote where you want Google to next invade your privacy map using their nifty tricycle mapping machine. The bicycle will go where cars can’t, tracking and mapping places like college campuses, state parks and San Francisco.

According to the video (below), you will be able to see the trike coming because the guy riding it has on a google cycling shirt and there is blaring rights-free video rock music following him.

If there are some places you want google to record here in Sonoma County, be sure to submit them. My top five choices are:

1) Armstrong Woods – there are some awesome little routes that wend through the woods here, and cars can’t get to them all. I say – send the trike!
Location: Guerneville, CA

2) Bodega Head – again, some nice trails around the Head with fantastic views, but cars aren’t allowed. Send the trike!
Location: Bodega Bay, CA

3) Bohemian Grove - they won’t let me in, but if Sergey and Larry show up for the annual conclave of the elite, and they happen to be riding the google trike, then maybe we’ll finally get some good footage of the animal sacrifice, world government planning and intense games of charades that goes on there. I can see it now: “Two words…. first word… tri.. trilat… Trilateral Commission!”
Location: Need to know basis.

4) Northwest Sonoma County – good luck with this one, as there aren’t many roads up in those rugged mountains for a reason. It’s stunningly beautiful, and a side of Wine Country most people never get a chance to experience. Plus, would love to see that guy in the trike take on some of the fire roads off Skaggs Springs. That would be awesome. (For me, not him.)
Location: Between Healdsburg, Cloverdale and Sea Ranch.

5) The Cotati Crawl – you can’t drive it, and you probably shouldn’t bike it, but if you could outfit your best party shirt with all those cameras, you could see a good stretch of bars down in Cotati. I believe there are five. No need to over-indulge. Just take your time, enjoy the college-town vibe and then see one of the nation’s only hexagonal town plazas.
Location: Cotati, CA

Alright – be sure to tell google where to go with their maps!
