If it’s June, it must be time for those wonderful juicy orbs at Dry Creek Peach and Produce in Healdsburg’s Dry Creek Valley.
The farm, situated at 2179 Yoakim Bridge Rd., is open from noon to 5 p.m. on weekends from June to September. It is the last remaining fruit farm in the Valley and the only dedicated, certified organic peach farm in Sonoma County.
The farm has been around for more than 50 years (though only has been selling peaches exclusively since 1990).
All of the farm’s fruit is organically grown, tree-ripened, hand-picked and hand-packed. Among the varieties: Heirloom yellow peaches, white peaches, refreshing nectarines and exotic plums. The farm sells different produce, as well: Nectarines, plums, figs, persimmons and Meyer lemons, to name a few.
Other products include a variety of peach jams, which can be shipped across the country and around the world, and peach wood, which can be burned in fireplaces and grills.
Brian Sullivan and Gayle Okumura Sullivan are the current owners of the farm, and when they’re not working the modest little store on-site, they’re probably tending their booth at local Farmers Markets.
With this in mind, Dry Creek Peach and Produce represents what we at this blog like best: family-run farms with a work ethic that’s second to none. Check them out.
