Regular bowling with the family is fun but can be ho-hum: Take a ball, roll the ball, knock down pins, repeat.
This is why “Rock N Glow” bowling at the Windsor Bowl in Windsor is so much fun.
The event, which comprises darkened lanes, LED lane lighting and nightclub-style music piping through the building’s sound system, is held on Monday, Friday and Saturday nights. It’s perfect for families with older children.
On weekends, the shindig starts around 8 p.m. and stretches to midnight. Tunes are delivered by the Bowling Music Network. It is, quite simply, raucous fun. The price: $4.50 per game.
On Monday nights between 6 and 10 p.m., the Rock N Glow takes on a different feel. These regular events are more laid back, with fewer unaccompanied teen-agers and more 9-, 10- and 11-year-olds (with their parents, in most cases). The price: $8 for two hours of bowling, shoes included.
Depending on the skill level of the players involved, bowling alley attendants can hook up bumper-rails that prevent balls from falling into the gutters. This feature is especially good for younger children who don’t have the confidence (or strength) to get the ball down the lane.
Of course no night at the bowling alley would be complete without a heaping order of comfort food. The alley’s café and lounge both serve a full bar menu that includes pizzas, delicious salads, and appetizers. Consider these options fuel for an epic bowling match.
And may the best bowler win!
