Sonoma Insiders already know that Bobby Flay, he of the “Throwdown!” food show on the Food Network, came to Sonoma County once looking for a fight, and found it in Sonoma’s own “Gerard the Paella Guy” (GtPG).
As to be expected when one goes up against a dude who actually dives in the Pacific Ocean himself to catch his own fish for his paella, Chef Flay was, uh, flayed, and GtPG retained his title of Paella Guy beyond just the borders of Sonoma County.
Now with the HGTV Dream Home being given away in the small town of Sonoma, not only can you take a tour of the dream home before it is given away, but you have some cool wine country recipes courtesy of… Bobby Flay!
If you saw the latest episode, Flay gave tips on locally sourced food that pairs well with a $2 million dream home in Sonoma.
His recipes include:
- Loin of Lamb, marinated in merlot, garlic and thyme with piquillo pepper pesto
- Mesa’s Grill Cauliflower, with green chili gratin
- Chopped Apple Salad, toasted walnuts, blue cheese and pomegranate vinaigrette
- Bread Pudding, with blackberries and meyer lemon whipped cream
At the end of the segment, Flay also offers a framed copy of the recipes, which will stay in the house and be given to the lucky winner, making the total value of the house $2,000,032.
Since HGTV again won’t embrace the whole internets demands information be free thing, I can only LINK to the episode. Yikes- how 1999!
But if you want to see video of the guy who threw down Flay into a Paella pan, from which he was unable to extricate his saffroned self, check out the clip below and meet Gerard:
