The long-awaited wine country blimp, often called zeppelins by fussy flaks and fans of getting the led out, has arrived. After a long journey from Germany to Texas, and then a leisurely flight across the SoutHwest, the zeppelin (blimp!) came to the Bay Area.
CNN.com, as usual, got it all wrong when they declared that the blimp (zeppelin!) will “offer rides that provide a bird’s-eye view of Napa and Sonoma wine country, the Big Sur coastline, San Francisco and other parts of the Bay Area.”
While they haven’t retracted it yet, no doubt they will offer a correction stating that the “zeppelin (blimp!) will provide a bird’s eye view of the ever-fabulous Sonoma Wine Country, including the famed Pinot-producing region of the Russian River Valley and the quaint Alexander Valley, known for cabernets and chocolate pudding. It may also be possible to spy traffic jams on Highway 29.”
Since we couldn’t get a snapshot of the blimp and/or zeppelin, we photochopped our own. Take that, sfgate.com!
