Beyond Burgers – Falafel…

UPDATE: Due to popular demand, Thumbs Up Burger Deli announced they will also do a falafel lunch on Wednesdays. You heard it here first…

At one of the many fabulous lunches I get to attend, surrounded by fabulous wine country people, I noticed that the fabulous wine country food I was nibbling on was even more Mediterranean than usual. In fact, it was falafel and hummus and shish-kabob. And it was delicious.

“Who made this stuff?” I asked through a maw filled with falafel and hummus and shish-kabob.

“The guy from Thumbs Up Burger Deli – Ned,” said the mouth next to me, also suitably stuffed.

“Man- he should offer this stuff at the regular restaurant!” I thought, again using quotation marks when having an internal conversation.

When I got up to speak (did I mention that I was the fabulous wine country luncheon speaker? Oh I didn’t?) I made sure to thank Ned for the food, and then publicly demand that he make it available to the rest of you.

My powers of persuasion are amazing.

Ned Husary, owner of Thumb’s Up Burger in Windsor (motto:  “Gateway to Healdsburg from the south, or Santa Rosa from the north”) is now making delicious Mediterranean meals at his restaurant.

Tuesday through Saturday, for dinner, he will offer this special menu. Also, special orders and catering are available.

So, please, head to Ned and ask for some falafel. Tell him Tim sent you.

He’ll treat you fabulously.

    Hi,

My sister used to work at a place in Healdsburg back in the late 60′s when we lived there, called Ned’s Hamburgers right on Headsburg Ave. in Healdsburg. I’m just kind of wondering if this is the same Ned that might haved owned that establishment?

Pam- I don’t think so- this is most likely a New Ned. However, only one way to find out – come to Windsor, get some falafel and ask ‘em! Thanks for reading us Pam. Are you still in the area?
