Dare I say it?
I will.
Rosso Pizzeria & Wine Bar has the best pizza in Santa Rosa. Them may be fighting words, but if you’ve ever tried their crisp-crust, handspun magic, you know I speak the truth.
Now we’ve got another option to get into their goodies, with the debut of their new mobile pizza oven at the weekly Santa Rosa farmer’s markets. Some details are still being ironed out, but the first al fresco pie should be served today from 5 to 8:30 p.m. at the Santa Rosa Downtown market (4th St. between B and D streets), followed by more ‘za on Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to noon at the Santa Rosa Veterans Building (Hwy. 12 and Maple Ave., east parking lot).
On Wednesdays, the crafty cooks will also send out fire roasted pig, while early risers on Saturdays will be treated to fresh, hand pulled mozzarella.
Of course, you can still go to the restaurant proper, but somehow, eating pork and pizza in a parking lot just seems so fun.

AT 6:30 ON A SATURDAY night, the crush of guests waiting to get into Rosso Pizzeria & Wine Bar spilled out the door, into the parking lot of Creekside Center strip mall in downtown Santa Rosa. Reservations are only taken for parties of six or more, and the hostess was warning all newcomers that the wait might be as long as two hours.
